I know we don't usually post on Sundays, however it is time again for the WOOF support blog hop.
This is a hop where owners of reactive/ fearful dogs get together to share their stories, successes, and even setbacks.
This months topic for WOOF is : What I love about my reactive dog. Time to focus on the positives.
This hop is hosted by Oz the Terrier and co hosted by Wag 'n' Woof Pets and Roxy the Travelling dog
Most of you know that my fearful dog is Lexus. Despite my efforts of socializing her, she continues to show fear around other people and their dogs while we are out walking.
Mika is my girl who has a tendency of wanting to get all snarly when dogs outside come to close to her threshold.
I am not going to focus on those things however, as this is suppose to reflect upon what we love about them.
I love each of my huskies in a much different way then the other.
What I love about Lexus : I love how cuddly she is. She will do anything in her power to always be close to us, giving us kisses, or basically any contact with us.
She is just SO loving!
I love when she curls up beside us on the bed at night.
I love how proud she gets when I allow her to find a box or something she is not normally allowed to chew, and I watch her prance around with the forbidden object in her mouth, so proud of herself.
She also has her crazy side, where all she wants to do is play, and I love how excited she gets when I sit down one on one with her to play.
What I love about Mika : I love how laid back she is. For a husky, she has broke the mold. She is calm, cool, collected (unless you mess with her) she loves to be loved, but not more then she desires. I love how she likes her own "me time" but how she always comes to me for her husky smother sessions.
Mika has been a mommy figure to both Koda and Lexus. They have learned, and continue to learn things from her every day.
Don't mess with her though, when Lexus and Koda start acting up a bit too much for her liking, she puts them in their place!
What I love about Koda : although he is not reactive, I want to say a piece on him as well.
I love that Koda is a huge goof ball. He is like Lexus with the cuddling, he always wants to be near us, giving husky hugz n kisses. I love how playful he is. I love that he talks back to me when I am giving him heck for something.
I love how he buries his head in the couch or under my pillow at night while we sleep.
There is so much to love about my huskies, far to many to list.
I think more people need to take the time to realize why they love their dogs, why they got them in the first place. People need to realize that pets are not perfect, neither are we.
And just because a dog may be reactive or fearful in some way, does not mean they should give up on them.
Far to many dogs end up in shelters because of reasons like these.
So we should all take the time to remember why we love our furbabies and stop giving up on them so often.
OK so now that I'm done my rant, you all know some things I love about my reactive/ fearful huskies.
Stay tuned, because on Monday we are doing a special feature for our OMD post.
Come back tomorrow to find out who!
