Sibe-Vibe Saturday, sepia style!

Hiya everybody!
So glad you here to catch the vibe this week!

Every Saturday we do a post where we like to share a fun fact about huskies or basically anything HUSKY related.

We are mixin up our vibe with the sepia Saturday blog hop hosted by
Ruckus the Eskie. Link up and share your best sepia photos or just check out what others have posted in the hop.

It is also the letter "K" in the #atozchallenge
K is for killer
(You will see why soon enough!)

Question : Do Siberian Huskies make good guard dogs?

Answer : NO!

Husky Fun Fact ➡ Huskies make BAD guard dogs!

Its true!
If you are looking to have a dog who will guard your house, protect you from the "bad guys" and make sure your safe while you sleep. Huskies are NOT for you!

A Siberian husky is much more likely to lick a stranger to death then to "do" anything. Some may make noises, a howl here and there and things like that, but as far as protection goes? Its not happening!

Koda : "um hey mom, somone  is knocking at the door. Should I start the coffee pot?"

Me : "hmm sure Koda, or you could always show them all your fur on that carpet you were laying on. That would probably scare them away!

❇Going through a major blowout (shed) right now due to our spring finally arriving!

Hey Lexus how bout you? Do you know how to be a big scary guard dog?

Lexus : "no, but if there are people coming, do you think they would be so kind as to rub my belly?"

*sigh*

Hey I have an idea! You guys could always just give them those husky smothers you always give me when I come home! You always knock me over so I guess that would be a start?

The pack : " what, like this mom?"

As you can see, huskies are extremely social dogs. They do not want to be mean. They want to love any and every person that comes through your door.

The best shot you would have at a Sibe guarding your house would simply be when a stranger comes up to your door and see three very wolf like dogs jumping all over the door. All you can do is hope that would be enough to change the bad guys mind! Haha!!

Who wants a guard dog anyways? Not me.
My pups are lovers, not fighters!

Of course, just like any breed, I am sure there are huskies out there who will bark at the door and whatever the case may be. The facts I state in my Sibe vibe are always that of my own huskies behavior doubled with research I have done on the breed.

Before you go I have one more thing to share on the vibe today.
You may remember a while back on one of my posts, I spoke about how addictive huskies are. And the saying that goes with them.
"Huskies are like potato chips : betcha can't have just one"

Well I found this PAWsome definition of a "Husky-holic" on instagram that a furiend of mine had posted. I thought you would enjoy it as well!

How true is that? Best definition I have ever heard! Haha!

That concludes our vibe today, enjoy your weekend!
Don't forget to check out my current giveaway for the K-9 Kelp prize package!

We also made some changes to our blog. We made our own Easter theme for the month of April, we hope you like it! We also changed our font as some of you had said that my last one was a bit hard to read. I think this one is better, I hope you agree. Let me know in your comments!

Do your pets take on the "house guarding" role?

Are you a Pet-a-holic?

  1. I'm a big guarding to my house. I won't allow any cat's or birds in my house. In addition to that, I think I mostly drool on people.

  5. I didn't know that about the Husky not being a good guard dog. My Shepherd wouldn't make a great guard dog either. He barks, but would then lick. My mutt on the other hand is the guard. Happy Saturday.

  10. OMG!! If you are on the outside of the house the Tzus are Killers! Once you walk through the door they love you to death! I call them my little sentinels because they are always on alert for something weird happening outside... but luckily they aren't yappy all the time little dogs.

  13. I'd definitely say the scariest thing about your crew might be the fur on the carpet, or the fact that they might knock you over with all that loving!
Our golden retriever Moses used to be a good watch dog....he'd put out a big scary bark if anyone came to the door but all protection ended there....he was the biggest baby ever! Our current crew does the same thing, but their barks aren't as "big" sounding (though Luke's is getting to be that way). They put up a pretty good show anyway, so that works for me!
I like your font, do you use some kind of plug in or widget to change that?

    1. Hi there Jan, I agree, as long as you have that big scary bark, that is usually enough to scare them away! That's my hope with having three huskies jumping at the door, I am thinking it would make people think twice!
Thanks for the compliment! No widget for the fonts, I am not sure if u use blogger or which one you use? But in blogger you can go into template and advanced settings and change any font you want for your posts, titles, gadgets, sidebar etc..,

  16. You nailed this one for sure. Mom says some might think Lightning is a good watch dog because he makes so much noise when someone comes to the door. BUT he is really afraid of the newbie:)

Mom says she is having a really hard time staying on the no more potato chip diet - she really wants another one of us but . . .

    1. hahaha!!! Yea! Noise is about all we get from our huskies! I hear ya!
The no more potato chip diet.......yea......I hear ya on that one too! My whole plan after we had Mika was to then get a light grey husky. Always wanted the grey. But then we saw Lexus.....had to have her! Then I said ok, I want a grey one......saw Koda....had to get him....so where does that leave me?? Three huskies later and still no grey one! hmmmmm......

  17. I have a super manly sounding intruder alert! But then I just want belly rubs when they walk through the door.

  18. OMC! I learned a new one. I always thought since huskies look like wolves—to me, anyway—they were killers. That’s actually funny cos there are houses here with husky stuffies on their porches to scare way intruders.

    1. haha! Awww!!!! They aren't killers!!!! but their appearance is probably enough to keep the bad guys away!

  19. Nailah is actually a pretty good guard dog. Aussies are generally protective of their people and she doesn't like when people act funny around me. I actually like this trait since she calms down when I tell her it's fine. :)

  22. Why Mom's Sibes were pawsome guard dogs! When a stranger came to the door, she would walk either Crusty, the 60lb male or Mischa, the 50lb female to the door with her, clearly restraining them as they tried very hard to lunge forward to reach the person when she opened the door...got them to step back every time...and all the Sibes said was arwwwooooo arwwwooooo! Yep, if let go...first they would have dashed right around whomever was there so they could escape and if the person came in, they would have been shed upon profusely AND probably licked to death. Yet, no one ever never came into our back yard without permission...just look over the fence and there are 3 wolf like faces just staring because they almost never barked. Love is indeed being part of a Sibe pack. And yes, who can have just one????????????
