I hope you all had a great weekend and a super special mothers day.
I have a great Oh My Dog story for you today.
Meet Cooper, a Golden retriever mix, and his little sidekick Carson.
You have heard the term a dog is a mans best furiend?
Well, this story shows two best furiends at their best, but in the worst of times.
Last Monday evening, a parents worst nightmare happened in North Dakoda.
3 year old Carson went missing.
It was a normal evening, Carson was outside playing with his trucks and his dog.
When 7:30pm rolled around the boys mother went out to get him, thinking that he must be getting hungry. That is when she realized Carson was nowhere to be found.
After the whole family had searched around the property for Carson, panic set in. Courtney (the boys mother) called 9-1-1 for help. It was at this point she realized that not only was her son MIA, but their pup Cooper was missing as well.
The community, as well as the officials rallied around the family of the missing boy, and pulled together over 200 volunteers. Some on horseback, some on ATV's and others walking, they searched nearby farms, and fields, and the two could not be found.
Midnight rolled around, it had begun to rain, and things were looking grim.
By 2:00am the sheriff was preparing to send the foot walkers home.
Just when the search party was turning in for the night out of the rain, a man on an ATV yelled one last time, shining his headlights up over a hill. It was then that their dog stood up, just long enough for the man to see him.
They went over to where the dog was spotted and found the missing partners!
Cooper (the family dog) was found sheltering the little boy from the rain by laying on top of him, thereby keeping him safe.
Carson and his dog were safe, and unharmed.
The little boy rode home on the back of the ATV with the dog following very closely behind, not willing to leave the side of his little human sidekick.
The nightmare was over.
I would like to just take a moment to say how grateful I am that this little boy made it home safe, and how thankful I am that he had his best furiend and protector there to keep him unharmed.
I cannot imagine how horrible this must have been for the family, but as a mother I could only imagine. Luckily this story has a happy ending!
