Parading pet jewelry and a mystery creature!

Hiya everyone!

Welcome to this weeks Pet Parade blog hop.
This hop is for dogs, cats, pigs, bunnies, or whatever pet you may have.
Parade your photos, share a story, and link back to your hosts.
If your not a blogger, have fun hopping around to the other linkers, and see what they are parading today!

We like to PAW-ty on our parade, because we have FOUR super cool co hosts and we were all brought together by our FAB host, Leah from the blog, Rascal and Rocco.

Your co hosts are :
Jan's Funny Farm, Basil the Bionic Cat,
Barking from the Bayou, and me,
Love is being owned by a husky!

I am going to start this parade by sharing our recent find in the backyard.
It all started on a bright and sunny day . . .

There I was, getting ready to take the huskies out for their morning pee.
I connected all of their leashes and put my shoes on.
Everything was going according to schedule, nothing out of the ordinary, until . . .
we were walking down the stairs of our step, and all of the sudden, my huskies started to pull on their leashes and they began talking to me, (in that husky talk sort of way) as if I was missing something.
I repeatedly asked them what their issue was, and the stubborn huskies that they are, they chose not to answer me.
And then I saw it!

(Not actual photo) image source : wikipedia.org

A HUGE beaver! Sitting right in front of my daughters slide!
I was shocked! My huskies were going crazy! They wanted to get closer for an up close and personal inspection. I immediately turned to go back in the house, but the dogs had another idea. They pulled and pulled, but finally Koda and Lexus heard my voice and came up the stairs with me, Mika refused!
Somehow in the mix of things, Koda's collar came off.
He instantly took off towards the beaver. I quickly took the other dogs in the house, and ran out, fully expecting to see Koda going after the beaver.
Koda was smart though, he decided he wasn't going anywhere near that thing! He sniffed it from a distance, and the beaver was full out snarling, and showing some MAJOR beaver fury!

I called Koda to me, and at first he didn't come, he began to walk the other way, so I thought, great! Koda is going to take off! But he surprised me, he turned to have his morning pee, and trotted right over to me. (being very careful to avoid the beaver)
I then took him back in the house, and praised the ears off him for coming to me so well.
The whole ordeal was pretty scary.
So many things flashed through my mind.
Koda is going to get bit by the beaver and get some sort of disease.
This is going to be an instant trip to the vet.
Koda might kill that beaver!
The list goes on . . .

Sort of ironic if you think about it. The beaver is my countries national animal.
The last thing I was thinking about is my Canadian pride in the beaver at that point!

I can't stress enough how important teaching your dog good recall is. If you missed my post on teaching recall to your dog you can check that out HERE!
I work with my huskies on their recall quite often. If I had not taken the time to teach this to Koda, i'm not sure what would have happened with the beaver.

Check out these photos.
I took these after the beaver was gone, and I brought the pack back out to do their business.
In all the commotion, I didn't even think to grab a camera to take a photo of the beaver, my apologies.

They all did a major patrol of the yard to try and figure out where the heck that beaver went!

Now that you have met our mystery creature, I have a super EXCITING announcement!

  8. How scary that must have been for you to see that Beaver there and have one of your beautiful Huskies break loose. Yikes! He was a good puppy tho and came back to you. I broke my color one day and got away from M too. She had to chase me down. Fortunately, she found me in a neighbor's backyard, but had to drive around the block to retrieve me because of fences. She was scared too.

  13. Good grief! I would pass out if I saw a huge beaver in my yard! We get armadillos and possums invading our perimeter. The boys go berserk over intruders. I love your jewelry, your new header and the name Pawz & Clawz!!

  14. What a scary situation! I'm glad Koda was smart enough and well trained enough not to attack the beaver. I don't know much about them but it sounds like they can be pretty nasty.

Aside from that, congrats on your new jewelry line! :) It's very cute and I'll be certain to send anyone looking for adorable pet parent bling your way!

  16. Our biggest excitement has been battling snakes. Poisonous snakes have come up to the house and sat on the back step, the cats go wild. Several years ago a snake got into the house and I had to kill it. Long story...but I did kill it. To protect the cats, especially Abby at that time. But your situation was scary and it's good that your huskies listen so well and you've taught them to come to you.

    1. Snakes? ICK! That would be worse then a beaver!!!! BOL!

  19. There's always an ad that shows up on my Facebook page from a local vet clinic that warns people not to let dogs swim where there are beavers, because they can be very territorial. But they're talking about in water, it must be unusual to just see one in your yard! I would have been in a panic too. So glad nothing bad happened.
The jewelry page looks great!! I think the blue paw bracelet is my favorite too, along with the cat charm necklace. The prices are very reasonable too!

    1. Yes, in the water especially, because that is where they build their dam.
I have NEVER seen one in my yard though! Always from a distance. It was scary! The noises that was coming out of the thing was just shocking!
The blue paw bracelet is just so cool! I'm glad you like it! And the technique that goes into making it was very interesting!
      Have a great evening!

  20. Wow! A beaver! My dogs cornered a possum not too long ago and Ash killed a mole and brought it in the house, but a beaver! Good thing your dogs didn't get it or it didn't get your dogs! I love your mom's jewelry. Beautiful!!!!
