Invisible monsters in YOUR pet bowl!

Hiya everyone!
Welcome to our Thoughtless Thursday blog hop!

Today is the day when we bloggers can give our brain a bit of a break, and post pretty much whatever we choose, without putting to much thought into it!
If your a blogger, link up and join the fun! If your a reader, feel free to hop around to the thumbnail links below this post, and check out what others are doing today.

Thoughtless Thursday is hosted by my pal Ruckus the Eskie, and co hosted by the husky pack, (pssst, that's me) Love is being owned by a husky!

Quick side note before we get started.
I have a question for my readers and I was hoping you all could help me out with it?
You may have noticed my new header. I am trying out some new looks to make my blog look more "professional" and the reason I write this blog is for my readers, I ask you, which do you like better? The new header? Or the old one shown below?
Please leave your answers in the comments, and I will stick with the winner. Thanks guys!

On with the today's post!

It may be thoughtless Thursday, but this post is anything but thoughtless.
Have you ever considered what type of monsters could be lurking around in your pets bowl?

You may not know it, but there could be monsters hiding away in their bowls right now!
Don't bother going to check, silly! These monsters are invisible!
Here, take a look :

Can't see them hiding in there?
Let me get out my trusty telescope, and you can have another look :

You see them now?
That's right! These monsters that I am referring to, are GERMS!

Germs are in every corner we turn. And one of their favorite hiding places just happens to be right in your beloved pets bowl!  Germs aren't picky either, they will choose dog bowls, cat bowls, rat bowls, any bowls!

~Are germs in my pet bowls preventable?

The answer is YES!

Cleaning your pets water dish and/or food dish will prevent these little buggers from making our fur babies sick! Some of these germs can be pretty nasty! They will eat at your pet from the inside out, and in the end could ultimately be fatal.

Have you ever noticed that in your pets water bowl, a sort of slime will form in a ring around the dish?
If this has happened to you, that ring of "yuck" is home to many little invincible critters.
Are you guilty of simply topping up the water in your pets dish, rather then cleaning it after each use?

Come on, lets be honest! I am guilty!
There have been times where I have picked up the water bowls, refilled them and put them back down.
I'll be the first to admit to it.
But, the thing is, that is where these monsters come from!
It is imPAWtant to clean their water dish AT LEAST once a day, with soapy water.

It is equally imPAWtant for their food dishes.
My huskies lick their bowls clean after every time they eat. But just because the bowl appears to be clean, doesn't mean those invincible monsters aren't still there!

After all, would you like to eat off of your plate after it has been licked clean?
Um.....no thank you.
Those little tiny food particles that you cannot see, do go moldy, and will attract these germs!

~Tips for you and your pets!

- Use either stainless steel, heavy glass, or ceramic bowls rather then plastic.
Some plastic bowls can contain a hazerdous substance known as BPA, and can leech it's way into your pets water.
Another good reason not to use plastic bowls, is they are more likely to trap in odors and make the smell unpleasant for your pet, with their super sensitive nose!

- Wash your pet bowls at least once a day, and if the bowls you currently have are just to far gone, it is much easier to go out and get a new one rather then trying to scrub it to death.

Keep your pets healthy and happy.
You never know, maybe the cause of your pets tummy ache is due to a germy bowl?

Thanks for coming by everyone, and enjoy the rest of your day!

Could you imagine if they didn't? ICK!
I'm glad you like the new header! I like both of them, and for different reasons, so it was hard for me to choose. Which is why I left it up to you guys!

  4. Papa cleans our dishes daily. Katy has a non-traditional dish. Since she eats too quickly, Mom bought a mini-cupcake pan for her and it slows down her eating. So that's pretty easy to clean, too.

  6. We like the old header, but the new is also nice.

This is a very good message as some people just don't think about washing out their pets bowls. I used to work in a bacteriology lab, and you would be surprised at the germ count on somethings. Buddy has stainless steel bowls that get washed daily.

You have a very informative blog!

    1. UGH!!!! I know....I can't decide between the two headers! That's why I left it up to you guys!!!
I like the old one because it has photos of the huskies on it, but I have a feeling the new one looks more "professional" so I don't know which I like best.
Thank you! I am so glad you find my blog informative!

  7. I've never seen a germ, but when my bipeds mention them I get the impression they lurk in very interesting places!

I really like both versions of the header. But I did find that the old one took a long time to load - this newer one loads faster. (My broadband connection is a bit on the slow side.)

  8. That's a tough one on the header, I'm going to have to study them a bit more before making up my mind!
We use ceramic and stainless steel bowls, no more plastic here. Are you going to make me confess that I don't wash them with soap daily? Honestly, I'm trying to do better!

However, I wouldn't mind if that little blue bird went away, I think he has it out for me Jenna; always landing right on the word I'm trying to read. And at this very moment, he's sitting on top of this comment box glaring down at me! Ha Ha!!!

  17. Unclean bowls are yucky! I wash my dogs every night after I finish the human dishes.
I think I like your original header better because it has the dogs on it. I prefer your dogs to the cartoons but that is just me :)

I am torn between which header I like best!! I think if I could come with a smaller header with the dogs pictures on it, but still have all the info I need on the header, it would be good. But my original one is just so darn big, and it was hard to fit everything in!! *sigh*
