OMD! Mondays - Dog friendly vending machine?

Hiya everyone!
I hope you all had a PAWtastic weekend!

We lazed around in the yard, soaking up the sun, and cooling off in the shade and the mini pool.
On Saturday we took the boat out, (no we haven't had a chance to take the huskies quite yet, as we had a boat full of people this time around) BUT I have some exciting news!!

My 3 year old daughter caught her very first ever fish!!!

You see, we usually only have a rubber fish on the end of her fishing pole, but we decided it was time to give her a real hook and a worm. She sat on my lap on the edge of the boat, cast her line out, and after a few tries, she got a bite!!! I was so proud of her! She reeled the fish in all by herself, with no help from me!

My little girl caught her very first bass!
We let it go, and watched it swim away in the water.

Now for our "Oh My Dog" post for your Monday smile!

Have you ever heard of a vending machine for dogs?

No?

How about a vending machine for stray dogs?

Still no?

How about a vending machine for stray dogs that doubles as a recycling machine?

I'm guessing the answer is still no?

There is a Turkish company called Pugedon, who has found a way to not only help us humans recycle our plastic bottles, but at the same time, you are feeding the stray dogs!

How is this possible, I hear you asking?

Turkey is well known for it's stray dog problem.
Some people put their minds together to create the Pugedon vending machine.

How it works :

Tons of people are using bottled water nowadays, and usually these bottles simply get thrown in the trash.
With this vending machine, you simply insert your empty plastic water bottle into the top of the machine and this releases dog food into the bottom, where the stray dogs are welcome to come by and have a snack.

The recycled bottles that get put into the machine, pay for the cost of the dog food. Therefor, this machine is at no cost to anyone!

PLUS if you have a half full water bottle, that you are going to throw away, there is even a slot in the machine to poor that water, which goes down to another dish, for the dogs.

How cool is that?

Check out this video of the vending machine in action :

I mean, WOW!!! Just wow!
I think this is definitely something that should be in every state, Country, city, EVERYWHERE!

Well done Turkey!
Thank you for your kindness towards our beloved animals!

What do you think?
Should this new vending machine be all over the world?

  1. What a wonderful and unique way not only to help the stray dogs in Turkey, but to encourage recycling. Of course, being from the US I guess I'm a bit cynical about the public's acceptance of strays and worry that someone might add something bad to the water. I really hope not. I know there are some great rescues in Turkey that are doing everything they can to help the dogs - including spay/neuter programs - but there is only so much they can do. I applaud those who are trying to help. Thanks for sharing this. I hadn't seen this before.

  7. HAH! It’s a good idea but around here there are much more stray cats than dogs. Also, if that food sits there for any length of time, rats will be all over it. Today I nominated you to join the Bloggers Virtual Blog Tour. I hope you haven’t already done it and that you’ll consider joining.

    1. You make a very good point CK. I have seen kitties eat dog food too though, and I know it doesn't have the proper nutrients in it for them, but at least they would get a bite to eat. I'm sure there are kitties using this machine as well as the doggies. Good point about the rats too......seems like anything the world does to try and help animals, there are 10 other things shutting it down. :( Not fair!

If you are referring to the writing process blog tour.....yes, I have already done it, otherwise I would be happy to keep the chain going for you, my apologies CK!
      Good luck

  10. This is such an interesting concept. I hope that they have a plan for reducing he stray population as well. I have no idea how rescuing dogs works over there! Side note: I saw the little twitter bird fly on the screen out of the corner of my eye and almost had a heart attack because I thought it was a giant spider. Haha! ;)
