"OMD!" Mondays - One lucky dog

Hiya everyone!
Welcome to our Monday "Oh My Dog!" post.
When I read this story, I have to say, I was utterly shocked to hear the result.

Meet Vimes the Terrier :

This little dogs mom and dad, were away in Italy, enjoying their honeymoon.
Vimes was left in the care of some family members.
They decided to take little Vimes out for a walk.

Seems pretty normal right?

Except for the fact that they live in County Clare Ireland.
I'm not sure if any of you are familiar with that area, but let me show you a photo to help you understand the next part of this story.

That is one heck of a big cliff, on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean!

While the family and Vimes were out walking, Vimes got away!
The little Terrier lost his footing on the edge of one of these cliffs and plummeted straight down 300 FEET to the Atlantic ocean!!

Not to worry.
Rescuers were immediately sent out to find the pup, in whatever condition he may have been found in.
They of course, expected the worst.
However Vimes was seen climbing up to shore at the base of the cliff!

This amazing, strong dog not only survived this horrendous fall, but he survived it, without a scratch!
No injuries, except perhaps his pride ;-)
Of course when Vimes's mom and dad heard the news, you could say that they were more then a little shocked!

Way to be Vimes! You are one tough Terrier!

That's all for now. Come on back tomorrow, and we will see you then!

  9. Wow Vimes is one very, very, very lucky terrier!!! I was almsot too afraid to read the entire story!!
I would never let 'family' care for any of my 4 leggeds because if 'something' ever happened there would be bad blood for the rest of my days. That is why I pay a pet sitter or Vet Tech;sure accidents can still happen but I feel the pet sitter would be more aware of what they are doing ;)
Thanks for a great story Jenna & for stopping by The Purrfect Pad too!

    1. I completely understand what you mean. It is almost like setting people up for failure. Nobody can care for our pets the way we do!

  11. Amazing that you posted this. Yesterday I was reading an article about the same fate to befall (Literally) so many others who lived to tell the tale of falling a long distance and surviving. One was of the youngest boy (age 9) who went over Niagara Falls in only his swim suit and survived.

  13. What a great story....I'm so glad it ended well for Vimes! Can you imagine the panic the family must have felt when he got loose and went running towards that cliff, and then over?! Scary! And it was probably quite the (pleasant) shock to find out he was OK!
