Siberian Saturday - What is a Spitz?

Hiya everyone!
Welcome to our Siberian Saturday.
Today we focus on fun facts and anything related to the Siberian Husky.

As always we will be linking up with Ruckus the Eskie for Sepia Saturday.

Before we get started, I would like to share the final verdict of yesterday's court case.
In case you missed it, visit our post : My Guilty Husky to find out what happened.
I asked you, my readers, who you thought was guilty.
The man of the house, or Lexus?

Well, I asked, and you delivered the verdict!
13 of you said the man of the house is guilty.
2 of you said they should each get half the blame.
3 of you blamed the dog.
And we even had one of our furiends (Laika and Vaks from the blog Mit Hundeliv meds Vaks) who thought the blame should always go to the cat! I assume since our one kitty, KiKi, took the role of the judge yesterday, they must be referring to her.

The final verdict is in . . .

ALL 3 OF YOU ARE GUILTY!
The "man of the house" received a one week sentence.

Lexus and KiKi, served one single night, and have now been released!

 There you have it folks!
We will catch up with KiKi and Lexus later next week, and get their thoughts on being imprisoned for a whole night!

Last week on our Siberian Saturday post, we created a fun husky quiz, to see how much you know about huskies. If you missed that, head on over and take our quiz!

The most common quiz question that people got wrong was :
Huskies belong to which group of dogs?
- Retriever
- Spaniel
- Spitz
- Terrier

Most of you had never heard of Spitz. Which is the category the Siberian Husky fits into.
Today I will go a little bit more into what exactly a Spitz is.

  • Top 10 Spitz breeds
  1. Chow Chow
  2. Malamute
  3. Akita
  4. Pomeranian
  5. Shiba Inu
  6. American Eskimo
  7. Keeshond
  8. Canaan
  9. Siberian Husky
  10. Samoyed

What defines a Spitz?

A spitz dog, will typically have thick - long (ish) fur. Sometimes white in color.
They will also have pointed erect ears, and elongated muzzles.
Often in a Spitz, the dog will have a curled plume type tail, which touches their back, or droops to the side.

Spitz is NOT a "breed" but more a certain "type" of dog.
The most common traits falling into this category is the thick luxurious fur.

That's all for now, thanks so much for stopping by and spending part of your weekend with us!

The Sibe Tribe, signing out!

  1. I generally blame all of mine, too!! LOL! Usually Lilly (cat) will grab something off the counter and drop it down to the dogs... then they share.. or not. Depending on the day. :)

  10. I don't know too much about the Spitz group of dogs, but for some reason they all look like they'd be stubborn :P I love that the cat got blamed as well, it probably is always the cats fault, how could I have forgotten? It's one of lifes simple truths.

  15. Those are some of TW’s fave dog beeds. She likes them fluffy. One of the neighbors has either an Akita or the one under it. TW sez it looks like a bear!

  16. I am thinking Human Man needs a better attorney! It seems his sentence is much stiffer than the actual perpetrator of the damage. He has already paid a $400 fine *lost sale.* Lexus and Kiki only spent one night in jail. Clearly the judge is prejudice and has probably taken some under the table catnip. BOL!! Y'all come ride our Hot Air Balloon today. I have heard of Spitz, but I thought they were an actual breed. Thanks for the knowledge. ☺

    1. BOL!!!! Well, even the judge got thrown in jail! It was by popular demand that the man got the more sever sentence. The people spoke, I only listened!
Although I wouldn't put it past KiKi to have found some under the table nip!!!
