3 things to do on National Dog Week

Hiya everyone!

The last part of September is dedicated to dogs.
Yep!
Happy National Dog week!

Of course we all know that every day is dog (and cat) day for us pet lovers, but it is nice to have a week of dedication.

I was reading the history of National Dog Week on
Sugar The Golden Retriever's blog.
It appears that this has been around since 1928!
Something I definitely did not know.

National Dog week was launched by Captain William Lewis Judy 85 years ago.
The week was established to help create responsible dog owners.

"It's more than just a week, it's a mindset."
~ Quote from National Dog Week Facebook page.

3 activities to do with your dog during Dog Week :

1) Go for a hike!

Hiking is a great activity to do with your dog on any day, but this week, take you and your dog(s) to a new spot, and do some exploring!

2) Buy a special treat for your pup. Something they don't get on an every day basis. Such as a deer antler.
Deer antlers are great for your pets teeth, PLUS have tons of nutrients.

3) Put some time aside to do something special with your dog.
If your dog likes car rides, maybe take them somewhere special. Go to a park and have a picnic, or take a trip to the dog park.

Do you have plans for National Dog Week?
Please share them with us in the comment section!

See you tomorrow for Friday's Pet Parade blog hop.

    1. Yep! I know. Technically I think it should be "pet week" but since the whole thing is to promote responsible dog owners, I guess that wouldn't work :-/

  6. We are really hoping for continued nice weather so we can get some extra walks in this week. And Mom says she has a big box of treats to drop off at our local shelter.

  7. great tips and October is such a good month for dog outings not too hot and not too cold. We used to walk in the woods regularly but ticks are so bad in our area now that even with prevenatative and all natural spray we go in and ticks are all over us last time they were swarming in and out of our ears and all over mom and dad two, it took three hours to get them off that was two years ago and we haven't really gone into the woods since. We just hate ticks

    1. wow!!! that must have been a horrible experience!!!! I have never seen ticks that bad!!! wow!
The fleas in my area have been bad this year. Despite the preventative. So I battled them a few times through the summer :(
