Autumn huskies - Adoptable husky OTW

Hiya everybody!
Today is the first day of Autumn, so my pack has a message for you :

Happy Autumn!
This a very anxious time for my pack, as they just know that winter is right around the corner.
I personally love fall! I love the changing color of the trees, and watching the dogs and human kids play in piles of leaves.

How about you?
What is your favorite season, and what do you like most about Fall?

Today we are taking part in the Tuesday Tails blog hop.
Hosted by Dogs 'n' Pawz and Talking Dogs.

Meet Shyla

Shyla is a beautiful beautiful 6 year old Siberian Husky.
This girl is a bit of a special case.

She is currently residing in Ottawa Ontario.
When I first saw her photo, and read that she is literally right down the road, I instantly clicked on her to see what sort of help she needed. This is when I learned her story.

Shyla is great with other dogs. However she chases cats, and needs a kitty free home.
*This was red flag #1 as I have 3 cats.

And Shyla had bitten a little girl :(
*Red flag #2
I have kids.

The reason this girl needs a home, is because she bit the owners daughter, and even though this was a one time incident, the officials are forcing her to re home the dog, to a home with no kids.

I have kids, and I have cats, therefore, this girl is not for me. Unfortunately.
Not only will the authorities only re-home her to a place with no kids, but I also have to think of the safety of my kids, and my cats.

Please don't assume Shyla is a vicious dog, as she is not. This has never happened before, and was declared an isolated incident. She has a lot of love to give, and just needs a home with no kids, and no cats.
Shyla will do best with a dog/husky savvy person.

You can find Shyla's full behavior evaluation by requesting the info from Jane Madigan.

She is also on a special diet. Shyla needs a fish based food due to a GI problem.
She is currently eating Orijen 6fish dog food.

I am asking that you please share her story. She will be harder to find a home for, due to her story, and special needs. When you share her, please encourage people to read this thoroughly.

Thanks for your good wishes towards Shyla. She just needs the right home with some dog savvy people and she will do just fine!

  3. Hi Y'all!

Oh what a beautiful gal. Hope she finds the perfect home quickly.

Don't know details of Shyla's story but my Human tells a story about a friend's little boy who was wrestling with the family collie and the collie bit him. He, in turn, bit the collie, only the little boy locked on and wouldn't let go. Hmmm...maybe the authorities should have stuck their 2 cents in and made the family re-home both the dog and the child...

Why do we pawed ones always get blamed? Usually we're antagonized or tryin' to protect.

    Paws crossed for you Shyla.

    Y'all come by now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

    1. I completely agree. In most circumstances when it is a one time incident in a family dog such as Shyla, more often than not something happened to push the dog to that limit. BUT I don't know the details quite that far into the story, so it's hard to say. Shyla needs humans who are dog AND husky savvy, as well as having no kitties or kids in the home.

  4. We love fall around here too. It is so good that you are able to provide further information about Shyla to any potential adopters. That will be a huge help.

  5. I love fall, it's my favorite season by far. It's beautiful outside and the weather is perfect. I'm a big fan of hiking in the fall when there's not nearly as many prickers around. Shyla is gorgeous; I'm hoping she finds her special home soon. It's always a little bit tougher to find homes for dogs that get labeled as no children but I know there's a nice active couple out there who would love to have her as part of their family. Sharing.

    1. Exactly! She just needs the right humans. She is a loving dog and would do well with experienced dog and husky owners.

Fall is definitely the best time for hikes! Not nearly as many bugs!

  7. We love the fall - falling leaves, falling temps (we're not fans of hot, humid weather), and lots of fun smells in the air!

    1. I like summer, but not when it gets so hot that you can't bare to do anything! That is just no fun! I love watching my kids and huskies play in the leaves and the snow!!!

  8. Shyla is beautiful. Sure hope somebody will give her a home. Will Share. I think I like Fall the best but I'm always ready for Spring when it rolls around! Happy Fall!

  9. Ciara and Lightning are really enjoying the cool nights here - Mom has a hard time getting them to come in for bedtime. Of course, we huskies know winter is just around the corner, AND snow too, we hope.

Shyla looks a lot like Lightning - hope she finds the right home.

    1. Yes, she does look just like Lightning!
I clicked on her face so quickly, and then my heart sank as I kept on reading, and knew there was nothing I could do to help her, and I know how hard it will be for her to find a home. :(

  10. She is such a beauty, and I hope someone who is husky savvy can take her in. I imagine there's more to the story than we know, and hopefully that means anyone who really looks into it will find that Shyla can do fine in the right home.
We are welcoming autumn too, even though we're not looking forward to the winter that follows it. OK, the dogs probably don't mind it, it's just me! :)

    1. I completely agree with you.
She needs the right humans just as much as there are some humans out there who need the right husky. No kids, no cats, and she will do just fine!

I like winter. But I would be good if we only had winter for like.....one month BOL!

      Delete
    2. I could take one month as well! Around here it seems like winter is about 6 months, and the other 3 seasons only get about 2 months apiece! LOL

    3. I agree! Winter always seems to last the longest!

  11. Poor girl, at least she's getting a chance at a new home. So many times dogs are euthanized for incidences like this. Happy Autumn to you, too. It is my favorite time of year.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Your absolutely right. I was happy to hear that she is not getting euthanized after this, but I think that is due to the fact that her behavior evaluation went very well, and she is a friendly dog. She simply needs to be with the right people.

  13. Shyla looks like a very sweet doggie and we purr she can find a cat-free home. We like fall...but we're not ready for what follows fall!

    1. Yes she is. Cat free home AND a child free home too. That is going to make it so much harder for her to be adopted. :(

My huskies LOVE what comes after fall!!

  14. Got my paws crossed that Shyla finds an appropriate home, soon.

I like fall, yes, although I think my huskies would like to just get it over with and move on to the snow!
