Halloween is fast approaching, and that means our beloved pets have been dressed in costumes by us humans purely for our own entertainment.
Don't get me wrong.
I AM one of those paw-rents who dress their pets in costume, and i'm not saying there is anything wrong with that at all!
All I am saying, is to please know your pets.
Our pets are our furry children, yes. However, they do not enjoy Halloween.
They do not enjoy seeing scary monsters knocking on the door and expecting candy, they do not enjoy the super spooky skeletons hanging everywhere, they are just not into it.
There are some dogs out there who do not mind costumes at all, and I think that is great!
But, if you have dogs like mine, my best tip would be to only put a costume on just long enough to take your photo.
Know your pet.
If your pet absolutely despises costumes, it's just not worth putting them through it.
Always make sure whatever costume you use is comfortable for your pet.
Things to check for would include :
- sharp edges
- tight fitting areas
- small pieces they could choke on
- loose threads.
A loose thread could get caught in between their toes, or on their claws, and can really hurt their paws if it were to get caught.
You will have a chance to see my Sibes in costume in the next few days!
So stay tuned, and keep your pets well being in mind while choosing your costume.
We are also taking part in the Tuesday Tails blog hop.
This hop was created for us to share pets in need of rescue and adoption all over the world.
Meet Bruce :
Bruce is a stunning young Siberian Husky.
He is full of love and energy, however he must go to a human who has experience with snow dogs.
Bruce needs a home with no small animals, and no children.
Not that he is not "good" with children, but the rescuers believe that he would be a bit much to have around toddlers etc . . .
He is food aggressive, but is getting better. The rescue has been hand feeding him to help him overcome his protectiveness around food.
Boys like Bruce will take longer to get adopted, due to his experienced owner needs, so I ask you to please share his story as much as you can. He is a beauty, and needs a loving home just like so many others who are in shelters right now.
Bruce is available at the Northern California Sled Dog Rescue.
Please visit their site for more info.
Thanks so much for coming by everyone.
