Husky puppy - Before and after

Hiya everyone!
TGIF!

Today, I would like to parade some photos of my husky, Lexus for our pet parade blog hop.

Link up with us, and share your fav stories or parade some photos. All pets welcome!
Host : Rascal and Rocco.
Co hosts : Love is being owned by a husky,
  Barking from the Bayou,
Bionic Basil, and Jan's Funny Farm.

The reason we decided to feature my girl Lexus, is because today is also Flashback Fridays!
So I will be sharing her growth with you from pup into adulthood.

Flashback Friday's is hosted by Five Sibes Mom and me, from Love is being owned by a husky!

Lexus was originally rescued from a backyard breeder. This man had over 65 Siberian Huskies in his possession and continued to breed them. This first photo shows Lexus with her sisters from the same litter.

She was just the sweetest thing I had ever saw. It is hard to tell from the photo, but she was also the "runt" of the litter, and even now in adulthood, she is much smaller than my other huskies.

When we brought her home, she was scared, she was lost, and she didn't know what to think of us. Lexus spent all of her time in the kitchen, as she was too scared to come spend time with us in the living room.

It took a lot of love, and a lot of snuggles, and gentle touches for her to come around, and begin to find her place here in our pack.

She was always a bit of an odd duck!
She had an odd shaped head, with a bone type lump in between her eyes, on her forehead.
The vet informed us, this is most likely due to bad breeding, and he had hoped she would grow into her skull shape as she aged. Which she did.

She also had a pigeon toe . . . or paw I suppose.
This means that her one foot turned inward rather than straight.
Doctors orders were to massage that leg daily, and if it became worse, and began to cause hip problems, we would deal with that when the time comes. I massaged her leg every day, and I am happy to say, her legs are in tip top shape now!

Lexus has always had a special bond with my youngest daughter, who is now 4 years old.

She was always a beauty, and had my heart from the start.

This is her now.
She has striking blue "wild" eyes, and she is the most lovable out of any of my huskies.
She was well worth all of the hard work that went into helping her trust humans again.
I wouldn't change a thing about her.

Thanks so much for spending your Friday with us, and taking a Flashback into life with my girl Lexus.

  1. She is a beauty! And what rough beginning, but lucky to have you for a mom. We have a similar story here. Four out of my five were rescued from a backyard breeder...that's how we wound up taking three pups at once! And they, too, have battled some pretty intense health issues as a result, but I love them all so dearly and am so happy they are part of my family. And, I'm happy to report, their so-called "breeder" is shut down. Lexus is a real beauty - and I love the pic of her with your daughter! Happy Flashback Friday! Thanks again for being our co-host!

    1. So many people look past the pups or kitties who have "faults" but I don't consider them faults. These things make them who they are, and I wouldnt change one part of my girl Lexus! Thanks for sharing about your pups as well, and being a FAB host!

  2. I didn't know your history Lexus! Amazing that the guy had 65 huskies... that is a lot! Glad Lexus is fitting in well now and doesn't have any issues.

  8. What a beauty she is!!! My girl Mya Boo Boo was also from a back yard breeder. We got her at about 8 weeks old when the lady was "going out of business" and wanted the pups gone. Luckily, I worked with a family member of hers who convinced her that I could give the puppy a good home. Now, almost 8 years later, Mya is still my baby girl. I think rescuing is the best...it gives a heart the chance to mend and show true love that might otherwise have been overlooked.

    Great post!!

  9. What a great story! I bet she is extra special because she was a "project" and I'm sure she knows to be grateful to you for saving her. She turned out beautiful despite all her issues.

  11. Lexus - sweet as a pup and still sweet:) Our Thunder was supposed to be a show pup, but his front paws both turned out as a pup. The breeder kept him until he was four months old, and although they had started to straighten, she let us have him - Mom was so happy for those paws. And with time they straightened out just fine.

Woos - Phantom, Ciara, and Lightning

  12. I won't live long enough to see back yard breeders and cat mills as well put to an end. All we can do is keep rescuing, one by one, and work on shutting them down. Lexus is one of the very fortunate.

  16. I would have fallen in love with Lexus immediately - she's so gorgeous. I had no idea about the pigeon toe, or paw. That's great that leg massages worked, I would have never guessed. She's so lucky to have ended up in your family - even though she was scared at first it really was a great place for her to fit right in.
