Siberian Saturday

Welcome to another edition of Siberian Saturday.
A day where we like to share a fun husky tip, and some great information about the breed.

However, today we are just going to share a very quick husky fact with you, and then we have some photos I would love to share.

Siberian Huskies are counter surfers!

And no, I don't mean the kind of surfing that you see in the above photo! ;-)

Huskies are NOTORIOUS for jumping up on the counter, and eating whatever food they can find.
My boy Koda is a major counter surfer!
Unfortunately, I have no photos of him doing this because every time I catch him, he gets down in a hurry.

I did find a few photos of other counter surfing huskies for you though.

I'd love to give you some tips on how to stop a counter surfing husky, but I haven't even figured that out yet!

A few things I can tell you to help the situation :

Do not keep food on the counter.
Do not leave dinner unattended on the counter.
Do not leave anything breakable or paperwork on your counters!

. . . I have learned these things the hard way!

Now, I am excited to show you some Halloween photos of my fur-less kids from last nights trick or treating adventure!

*Left to right

On your left, that is my oldest daughter; she was a fox.
Beside her, is one of her friends that came out with us, she was a dark princess.
Then my step son; he was a ninja.
And on the end is my other step son; he was the killer from the movie Scream.
Last but certainly not least, my little girl in the front; she was a monster.

I took a few close ups as well :

My little fox

My little monster

Grrrr! Scream (this mask was super creepy! It had a hand pump which was used to run fake blood down his face!

Super fast ninja!

They all had a blast!
Did you have a good Halloween?

Last photo of the day.

My little Lexus ladybug, in sepia!
Did you miss the post of my huskies in costume?

  1. I find it so hilarious that big dogs are counter surfers - I remember completely freezing the first time I found Laika on my countertop - I was in shock. I thought that was something only cats did. Oh no, I was quite wrong. We've since moved the barstools away from the counter when were gone to prevent such mischief :)

    1. You could, just ask you humans to leave a stool or something by the counter!

  4. Ha! I never knew that Huskies were counter surfers! As you know...my girls are pros at it...they usually figure out a way to hang out ON the table...any table will do! Your family looked GREAT for Halloween! That's one of the things I miss a lot...when the kids are grown...we go out and take a ride to the center of town to catch glimpses of the little ghosts and goblins! Happy Halloween!

  5. Hey, counter surfing! I've never tried it- but it sounds like a delicious activity. We had a great Halloween here (cold, though- dropped to 25 degrees!). You have some great Halloween pictures! Looks like everyone had a blast. Hope you had a very enjoyable evening! :)

It was a beautiful night here, I was shocked because it was suppose to rain and snow all night!

  6. Does Koda actually literally get up on the counter - his whole body - or just his front paws? Luke gets his front paws only up there, but he can reach pretty far with them! We have to keep moving things further and further back all the time. I'll die if I ever see him with his whole body up there!
Looks like it was a fun Halloween - great costumes!

    1. It was a great Halloween! One of my favorite times of the year!
I honestly am not sure if he gets fully up there or not. As far as I know, just his front paws and his face, not sure what he does when were not here though!

  7. Great Halloween costumes. Hope you all had fun.

Dakota and Phantom were big counter surfers in their younger days. Mom solved it by setting mouse traps at the edges of the counters in a few places. It only took one or two snapping of the traps to scare them away. After that she would just put them on the counter unset and even that worked. Evenutally she stopped putting them out, and the counter surfing stopped. Ciara never ever tries, and Lightning thinks about it, but his paws slide on the granite and he gets scared:)

  13. My mom knows all about Husky dogs and the kitchen. The Husky they had when Mom was little stole the entire turkey off the counter one Thanksgiving. He hated dog food, but he loved anything he could get his paws on in the kitchen!

  15. Scary costumes! We got no kids where we are. I think my barking kept them away. I also don't counter surf, but it looks like fun and I may have to try it!

  16. Those were very wise pieces of advise! I left some meat on the counter in a plastic bag and the next thing I knew Annabelle had chewed through the plastic and was eating the raw meat! So I learned never leave it unattended. MOL

  19. Hmmmm, another myth shot to hell. I didn’t think dogs jumped to get up on the counter. I thought they just stood up on 2 paws and stole the food up there. A good tip is too really crap up the counter like my peeps have done. I couldn’t fit up on it if I tried.

    1. Oh yea, they get right up there!!!!
And, having things on the counter is bad for me, and bad for anybody with huskies! BOL!
They will just knock it all down and probably chew it while their at it!

  20. Counter surfing Sibes, that we luckily don't suffer here - we think drive-by kitteh is bad enough :D
