Siberian Husky Facts From Around The Globe

Hi everyone, and welcome to Siberian Saturday.
We have a wonderful post for you today, filled with info from husky owners across the world.
Better known as...
Husky Nation.

I was curious to learn the different behaviors of a Siberian Husky from husky owners themselves, so I set off to do my own study.
I posted in 2 different husky Facebook groups, and people were happy to participate. (Us Sibe folk will take any opportunity to chat about our dogs!)

I asked a series of 5 questions, and took the first 54 people who answered, then calculated
it into an infographic.
The results?

What do you take from this?

As much research as you can possibly do on this breed through Google, it will all say the same thing about them, however, what I found was that the majority of people had completely different answers from one and other. Therefore 63% of people are in the "other" category.

Take question 3 for example :
If you could change one thing about your husky, what would it be?

My first guess as to what people were going to answer was
- I wish my husky would stop destroying things -
But what I found was MANY different answers, meaning, each husky was unique.
This fascinates me because everyone seems to think a certain way about Siberian Huskies.

  • They destroy things
  • They run away
  • They have too much energy
These things may be true for a lot of huskies, but definitely not all of them.
The proof is in the pudding as they say, and these answers came from husky owners all over the world.

My Sepia Saturday Contribution

Thank you to everyone who participated in my study, I had a lot of fun learning about your huskies, and finding out the cold hard facts for myself.

  1. Interesting answers. I am sure those three are pretty common to a lot of breeds too. Have a super Saturday.

  2. Interesting! Those qualities, especially the digging is common in goldens, too! Happy Saturday!

  3. The family husky mom had growing up was all trouble, she would never have thought about the breed again. In Germany her best friend had a husky who was the exact opposite and mom loved her. She also had a friend who breeds huskies and got to learn a lot more about them. As with any creature, each one is an individual and different, but overall, they are great dogs.

    1. Some can be a great deal of trouble I have heard. BUT, I think the main thing is a person owning a husky for the first time, doesn't really know what their getting into and the special needs of the breed, and once it starts going wrong, it is even harder to curb the behavior.
Thanks for coming by Emma :)

  4. Hi Y'all!

I think when humans want a dog, whether it is the first dog or they have had other dogs, they need to make a numbered list of important traits they are seeking in their life long (dog's life) companion. My Human has always had retrievers. Before she got me, another Chessie, she made a list. After comparing her list and the traits of various breeds she decided on another Chessie, me.

    Y'all come on by,

    1. I agree. I definitely found my breed when I found huskies. They are the dog for me!

  5. Our humans learned a lot about huskies when they got their first, but as you can tell, they were just fine with both the good and the troublesome:)

  6. What a great infograph! (paw clapping) That was a great idea for a study. Bentley wants the large tan collar with the art deco font. ♥

      Great choice for a collar!

  7. The art deco is my favorite design on those collars.
Great job on the infographic!! What I took away from it is that you can't necessarily judge a dog by it's breed....each dog is an individual, even though it may have some of the typical traits of it's breed.

And yes, your absolutely right. Each dog is very different from the other, whether or not they may have the same things in common

  8. That is such a neat idea for getting info from other owners! I bet their answers were fascinating! People do have weird perceptions about different dog breeds, for sure!

    1. Thanks Lauren. Yes, it was SO interesting to learn about everyone's huskies! I am glad I decided to do this research!

  9. Well, we would think that the answer would depend on the dog. Even though every breed has certain traits, every dog is a bit different and lots depends on the dog's human and environment.

    1. Yes, your absolutely right, but it's funny because the majority of questions or comments that people always say are the exact same, but judging from these answers, totally different in some cases. Very interesting.

  10. Very cool that you did the questions and infographic, enjoyed reading the answers. For the giveaway I would have made a x-large orange collar.

A lot of people had the "nothing" answer and it seemed like the "other" were things like wishing for more affection, stop pulling on the leash etc...it was very cool to see what others had to say!

    1. Very interesting! Considering almost every google searched site you go to says that they are. I think it really all depends on the person as much as the dog. First time husky owners will finds them much harder to train as I do not think they are quite ready for the sibe stubbornness! ;)

  17. Very interesting facts. Buddy is stubborn, but that is one of his most endearing traits.
