What can water therapy do for your dog?

Hi everyone, we're so happy you have came by to spend part of your Monday with us!
I'm sure you have all heard of water therapy for dogs, some of you may have even used it for your own pet.
This one particular story caught me eye, and I knew I had to share it with you for our "OMD" Monday post.

I would like you all to meet Kane the Husky, and his very loving daddy.

dogs and water therapy

Kane is a senior husky.
Unfortunately his back legs stopped working, however surgery was just not an option due to his age.
His human was not ready to give up on him just yet though.
Thankfully, they discovered the answer to help Kane with his legs, and his pain.

Water Therapy.

As you will see in this video, after just a few days of water therapy, Kane was able to walk again!
Mostly with help, but he even started to tour around on his own as well!

It is truly amazing what water therapy can do!
I do hope you find the time to watch this short video, it is beautiful and oh so heart warming.
Perfect for your Monday smile!

Have you had experience with water therapy?

If you would like to learn more, stay tuned to the blog and I will be featuring a good friend of mine with her gorgeous husky, who has been using water therapy faithfully for some time, with great success.

Did ya'll hear?
Oh please, never fear!
It's the doc, yep the doc!
His birthday is here!

Today is the birthday of the great Dr. Seuss!
You may remember me telling you last year how big a fan I am of Dr. Seuss.
To me, the man was sheer genius!

My all time favorite quote of his is in my above photo.

"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
nothing is going to get better, it's NOT!"

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

  2. It would probably be a good thing for Katie, but she really dislikes getting wet, doesn't even like rain much, so we have never had her try it. For Bailie and I if we needed it, it would work well I think.

    1. I suppose for dogs who don't like water it may not be the best option, but it just seems to work such miracles!

  3. My Mom has a very good friend whose elderly dog had a stroke and underwent water therapy as part of his recovery. It was quite successful and he had good mobility until he passed away a few years ago. We'll try to squish up my face for your giveaway....it probably would be a photoshopped squished face though !!!!

  4. We've used water treadmill therapy with three of our dogs...Jack & Maggie aren't there yet, but we'll certainly do it with them if the need arises. It's great exercise for our seniors or dogs with injuries.

  10. That is so great! I wonder if water therapy would have helped Kobi's hind legs when they started to get weak (he wasn't in pain though). He didn't like the water though, so probably wouldn't have gone for it! I know swimming is great for Sheba's arthritis, I just wish we had a pool so she could go more often.

  15. Water therapy does wonderful stuff. I used a water treadmill for Norman's therapy after his acl surgery, it got him back out in the field so much faster.

  16. It's a fabulous treatment and even better if started earlier in a big dog's life.

  17. A million years ago when I was a kid we had a Sheltie. Our dog hurt his back and his back legs were paralyzed. Back then there was not too much they could do and my parents had little money to fix a badly injured dog. The vet we saw was just out of vet school and suggested something kind of new--water therapy and it worked. Eventually our dog came home--walking and lived to be very old.
