Embarrassing Moments: Life With Pets

Embarrassing moments...we as pet parents know them well, don't we? It never fails - the perfect setting, maybe some family over for a visit, then all the sudden you look over to see your dog peeing on your mothers shoe. Or maybe your cat decided to take a very stinky litter box break during a holiday dinner. Whatever the case may be, we love our 4 legged friends unconditionally, yet I can't help but think they do these things on purpose!! If your wondering what brought this whole thing up, allow me to elaborate...

Picture this -  over the weekend, we decided to go down to the chip wagon to get some lunch. We took Koda with us because I am trying to socialize him as much as I can around other humans. Anyways, there was this nice older lady there who asked if she could pet him. She had told me about huskies she had as a child. I said sure no problem at all! What did Koda do? Went straight into her....you know....area!!! I'm not even talking just a little sniff, he literally dive bombed her!!!! I began apologizing, but she persisted on petting him, simply laughing it off. The worst part? Koda continued to make dive bomb attempts at this poor old ladies "area!"
It was bad, and every time I tried to take him away, she moved to him again. I mean jeez lady!
Anyways, after much embarrassment, she was able to pet him while I held his head.

Not to mention the time I told someone "yea, sure she's friendly" (referring to Mika) only to have her growl at the people! Or how about that time I was walking Lexus when she must have smelled a certain something, so she began pulling on her harness SO hard that she was literally lifting her whole front end off the ground and hopping like a bunny on her hind legs! The worst one has to be when my family comes to visit and Koda lets the STINKIEST farts go! Believe me, I could go on and on, but i'll stop there. :)

I don't actually think they do these things on purpose, but the looks they give you after all is said and done is enough to tell me their thinking - "what? I did nothing wrong human!" Just sheer furry innocence!

And now I turn to you dear readers! I would love to hear some embarrassing moments caused by YOUR pets! Feel free to share in the comments!

  2. Well honestly the only embarrassing moment my Mom has had because of ME, is that she's always telling everyone about me and how sweet and adorable I am but I'm so shy that in spite of all the cat toys around the house and my food and water bowl being visible, I am INVISIBLE! I am so shy that I hide when strangers are here.......so I'm the AMAZING INVISIBLE HOUSECAT......Mom says she wonders if people even believe she HAS a cat when they're here OR if she just "thinks" she has one (eeeeeeek!!!).

    Hugs, Sammy

  3. lol once I had a cat in my apartment in college, we had a stripper come for our friends bday he put his leather jacket on the chair, during the routine the cat jumped on his jacket and pissed. I picked up the jacket and made up some story and wiped it off and gave it to him and shoo'ed him out the door. Guess the cat didn't like his performance.

  5. Whenever people are out in their yards, we like to quick run up on their lawn and take a big dump! It is even better if they are having a meal outside at the time. Mom always gets so embarrassed.

  6. Hmmm, my classic, and recurring, embarrassing moment is when we visit friends with cats and I hurry up and eat all the cat food before anyone has time to "put it up" out of my way. I then proceed to puke it up on the friend's carpet or floor. It never fails.

  7. Probably my most embarrassing is when Sally was a puppy - I didn't have much control over her and she was a love bug so ran up to everyone completely ignoring me.

  9. First of all, your blog looks pawsome. I meant to tell you that before. I can’t believe it’s still on Blogger. I thought all dogs sniffed women in that area. They certainly always did to TW and she keeps herself clean. I never embarrass the peeps but I can tell you about the many times they embarrass me. TW is a constant source of embarrassment to this kitteh.

  10. I once had Ava at work for the afternoon. Ava is well socialized and usually very consistent in her behavior. On this day I had several meetings that I had to attend outside of my office space. My coworker agreed to watch Ava when I was in those meetings. When I returned to the office, my coworker informed me that Ava went to the bathroom on her floor. I apologized profusely, shocked that this happened. This was truly embarrassing.

  11. Too funny...it will be hard to top those stories...BOL! Two things come to mind....we had a Fall get together at our house for family and friends and when I was outside at the bonfire, Conrad decided to just poop right on the kitchen floor! There were people in the house, and they just kind of tried to ignore it...finally my good friend came outside to tell me! (Now poor Conrad has to be confined when we have company but since he's always underfoot it's safer for him anyway)
I always think of Kobi wearing his gentle leader, and tilting his head sideways, squinting his eye, and looking all pitiful when we'd run into other people. I'd have to reassure everyone that it was 1) not a muzzle, and 2) not hurting him. Now that I think he did on purpose in hopes that I'd take it off (or someone would feel bad and give him a treat or something)!

  13. "He dive bombed her." LOL

I swear sometimes they enjoy doing the opposite of what you say. A time where Bain embarrassed me was when he was sniffing noses with a Beagle through a fence, and the owner said "What a friendly dog you have." Immediately afterwards, Bain lifted his leg and went to pee on the Beagle. Oh my goodness, lol.
