If you have followed my blog for a while, you will know we are huge Kurgo fans. They make quality dog products, and help make it easier to get out of the house and travel as well as other outdoor activities with your dogs. That being said, I am thrilled to bring you the new and improved Kurgo Tru Fit Enhanced Strength Smart Harness.
Quite some time ago, I reviewed the original Tru Fit harness, so I was thrilled when Kurgo contacted me about testing out their updated version.
So, what's different about it?
I'm glad you asked! The new Kurgo dog harness has been updated to pass more rigorous crash testing standards, thus, making travel using the harness a much safer experience for both the dog, and you. These new harnesses have been crash tested at the University of Michigan using the federal motor vehicle safety standard 213 for child restraint systems. You can even see the crash test video here.
The Tru-Fit dog harness comes included with a seat belt tether strap to safely secure your dog to the vehicle belt. Having your dog restrained while travelling is important for numerous reasons - not just to keep them safe in the event of a crash - but also to prevent any distractions that may be caused by your pup while driving. PLUS the broad padded chest provides extra protection as well as comfort.
Even though this harness was specifically designed as a dog safety harness, it is also a great walking tool. You can clip the leash to the back or the front of the harness. Using the halt ring chest clip, the Tru-Fit harness makes a great no pull training tool. When your dog tries to pull, they get turned around, teaching your pup that pulling isn't going to accomplish anything, or get them anywhere!
With 5 adjustment points, you will feel good knowing you can properly fit the harness to your dog. I love that the chest plate is padded because it gives that extra bit of protection to their trachea and sternum while dispersing kinetic energy across the chest.
I would also like to point out the all steel nesting buckles Kurgo uses with their harness - making attaching the harness to your dog easy as 1,2,3! Not just that, but this buckle system is based on the engineering for harnesses used by rock climbers and linesmen, ensuring strength and safety.
I am thrilled with the new design of this harness. I feel safe bringing Koda in the truck, and I just love how the seat belt tether strap makes it easy to restrain him when we go for a drive. Plus, he just looks darn good in it, doesn't he?
