Straight Outta Blowout - Siberian Husky Fur Everywhere!

Straight Outta Blowout! Siberian Huskies

I'm sure you have all heard about one of the hottest movie releases of 2015?
That's right, Straight Outta Compton. A movie all about the rise and fall of a California hip hop group - NWA. By now, you're probably wondering why exactly this has any relativity to dogs and/or huskies. If you spend a lot of time in the online world, i'm POSITIVE you have seen these "straight outta" meme type photos. The funniest ones I have came across have been "straight outta money" and "straight outta patience." Anyways, I thought it would be fun to create one of my own, and what better than - "Straight outta blowout!"

Siberian Huskies Blowout

If you're not sure what I mean by Blowout, you can catch up on one of my previous posts here, or in short: Siberian Huskies and some other double coated dog breeds will shed their entire undercoat seasonally, to make room for more fur coming in.

Right about now, my huskies are staring to shed a lot less due to the summer coming to an end. Now they will finish growing their new, lush undercoat and prepare their bodies for the cooler weather. I wonder if that will help prevent those fur-tumbleweeds from blowing across my floor?

Do your dogs shed?

  1. Whoa, look at all that fur! Earl and Ethel only shed when you pick them up and have them on you, really.

  2. Katie sheds all year in huge fashion. We have white fur everywhere around here so it is a lucky thing GBGV's don't really shed. Mom brushes Katie down at the park to keep some of that white stuff away from here. We think the birds love building cozy nests with all the fur.

  6. I do my big shed twice a year -- this past spring (really my first big shed since living with mum), Krista used the furminator on me when she would come (2 times a week). It felt great to get all that loose fur off. One time she brought her youngest daughter with her -- Kathryn LUVED brushing me (I luvved it too) that she didn't want to leave without me!!! I will start my "summer shed" soon, so I hope Kathryn can come over again, bol.

  7. Bentley sheds 24/7/365 but he doesn't blow his coat. The first time our German Shepherd blew her coat, it freaked us out! BOL! BOL! Did you use the meme website for the Straight Outta meme? I've been wanting to make one too. So funny!

  8. BOL - we know all about Husky Blowouts:) Mom is so glad she just had us go to the groomer to get all that fur "blown out" because now she is noticing a whole lot fewer dust bunnies around:) We are both all set to build those coats back up for the winter - then we can start all over again.

  9. I haven't noticed it yet this year, but I remember last fall I couldn't believe how much Sheba was shedding! It seemed weird to me she would shed so much in the fall, and I hadn't noticed it so much previous years. At least now I know why she does it, and I'll be ready!

  16. Our dogs shed. A LOT. But not like this. Not nearly like this. It's funny how following other dog bloggers can really put things into perspective. The weather has been crap lately so the dogs have been inside more often - we've been sweeping our floors daily to keep up. It takes us 3 days to build up the amount of hair in that picture - if I also brush the dogs inside too.

    1. LOL Kimberly!!!! This was brushed out of one dog, in one 15 minute sitting hahaha! During blowout, I get this pile out of each dog every single day. It is hard to keep up with the cleaning, but having hardwood floors helps a lot. Just takes a quick sweep luckily!!! I know what you mean about following other dog blogs. I have learned SO much about other breeds it's crazy!

  17. With three dogs all on different coat cycles we always seem to have fur balls floating around. Sometimes less and sometimes more.
