I Talk To My Dogs... And They Talk Back! #TalkingHuskies

Yes, you read that title right. I'm sure as fellow pet lovers/owners, you all know what it's like to talk to your pets. But do yours talk back? Mine do! Let me explain...

Howling husky

Koda is my big talker. I can have a whole conversation with him. He is always the first one to let me know when it's dinner time, when he needs a drink, and when he needs to go outside. He literally tells me... when he starts walking around the house howling, I know he is asking me for something. I stand up, walk to the kitchen, and he shows me what he wants. Whether it's walking to the door for a pee, jumping up at the sink because he wants a drink, or pawing at his bowl because he's hungry, he lets me know!

howling husky

Mika talks to me differently than Koda. She will tell me when she wants out, but other than that, she mainly talks to the cats, or the other Huskies. She is the mama bear of the house. If the 2 younger dogs get playing too rough, she howls at them. If she is napping and the cats are practicing their zoomies, she howls at them. She likes to keep everything calm and cool.

dog treats

Lexus isn't a talker. She is very quiet, unless it comes time for treats. If I am snapping too many photos and not handing out enough treats, she will let out a small howl, but that's about all I get from her. My 3 Huskies are definitely characters, and each one in their own way. And that is what I love most about them.

The Sibe Tribe would love to know:

  3. We have many discussions and when verbal isn't enough they will move to non-verbal signals to get the point across.

  4. Such cuties :) I love their witch hats in the header. I thought of you yesterday at The Christmas Tree Shop, they had the nicest framed picture of huskies on a sled that said Husky Sled Company. I wish I could have bought it and sent it. Our cat, Penny loves to converse with us.

Cody "talks" to me but not as much as he talks to my husband and I have no idea why! Maybe he is complaining to him about ME???!! Hmmm...never thought about that before til now! lol xoxo

  6. Yes, we definitely have conversations. The dogs are all very observant; more so than I am, and let me know if 1) they need something, 2) they know something is happening and they have an opinion about it and 3) when I am not doing what I'm supposed to be doing.

    1. LOL! I think my day would not be complete if I didn't have a conversation with at least one of my pets! LOL!

  7. Pierre really talks the most. He "asks" to get on the couch or the bed and "talks" to play or go for a walk. Bentley is more of a physical guy. He will get me to do things. Did I tell you about the Husky we met in Alaska that could say, "I love you" and "mama?" It was crazy!

    1. It's funny you mention that because Koda and Mika can both say mama, but for some reason I can't get them to do it on call, i'm not sure why, but i'm working on it!!

  11. Three of our dogs are big talkers and Sydney is the quiet one until she gets outside - then she'll bark a few times. I have entire conversations with my pack too. It's hilarious.

  12. Lightning is the most vocal here. He tells Mom when he wants to go out, come in, and eat. He is also very vocal when Mom and Dad have been gone from a while and then come home. Ciara is a lot quieter, but if there are firecrackers going off, she makes it quite clear that she wants to come inside and RIGHT NOW!!!

  13. They really have their ways of letting us know EXACTLY what they need and want and when they need and want it :) I love the talking pictures. Cocoa always makes sure we know what it is she wants/needs. I think it makes it fun!!

  15. I love when dogs "talk"! Mine don't do that much though. Cricket barks at me when she wants me to throw the ball, but that's about it! LOL

  17. My Husky/Shepherd mix Bogart Sam used to 'talk' also. We would have interesting chats. His leads hung on 2 nails at front door & had a bell on each of them. So he would tug on them to let me know he wanted out. He told me when he was hungry; wanted Milkbones & when he wanted to nap. He was so interactive...like a child with 4 legs & a tail.....
    Huskies are so cool <3
    Sherri-Ellen & Siddhartha Henry :) :)
P.S.: Sorry to not have visited in so long. I came down with Pneumonia & now Viral Sinusitis & Siddhartha Henry has Bacterial Bowel Infection. It has been very difficult of late. Just wanted you to know whey we went AWOL....
