Walking Dogs For The Cause #CancerSucks

When you are owned by dogs, walks become a routine part of your day, sometimes multiple times a day. This simply becomes the norm' for us. But then there are those who step it up a notch. Today, I am happy to feature a good friend/ Co admin of mine from our Facebook group Eilidh Stevenson from - Siber Connection. Walking for a cause not only gets you out, and active, but also raises money for well deserving causes. In this case, Eilidh Stevenson, her mother Lesley, friend Naomi, and numerous other people took their dogs with them on a fundraising/awareness walk for The Beatson West Of Scotland Cancer Center.

The dogs were more than ready to start their 10k walk for the cause!
Eilidh's papp had spent almost a month at The Beatson during his treatment, so she wanted to give something back, show her appreciation, and do her part to help raise awareness.

It was a hot day, so for the 10k walk, the dogs came equipped with their own backpacks filled with treats and plenty of water. They also had their bandannas soaked in cool water, walks into the river and a nice relaxing break for everyone, every mile of their hike.

It took 4-5 weeks of training and preparation for the walk, and was so well worth it. In the end, they had raised about 1.5K for the charity. Eilidh says - "the dogs were there to help pull us along through the day."

Not only did they all come out of the walk proud at what they had accomplished, the dogs got themselves a couple of well deserved medals to show that they are champs, fighting for a good cause!

The ladies as well as their dogs had their photo in the newspaper.
Well done guys! You should all be proud!

Special shout out and thank you to Eilidh Stevenson for sharing her story with us, as well as providing these fantastic photos.

  1. Looks like fun event. Love the bright yellow bandanas and so nice dogs got to walk along. So many of these are people only around here.

    1. I know, I hate when they are people only. It's great for the dogs to come along!

  4. This is so fantastic! I would love to do a 5K or 10K with our dogs. I think Scout and Zoey would have a blast. And for such an amazing cause too.

  5. That is really cool. Most of our walks here are not dog friendly so this one is extra fun!

  7. How cool! Most of our walks aren't dog friendly, so sad because it looks like everyone had a great time for an amazing cause! Thanks for sharing!

  9. What a great cause! And 10K, wow, that's a really good walk. Sheba and I have done some walks for causes for our local humane society, and for a visiting nurse pet program...but I think those were a mile or two at the most!
