Remembrance Day Photo's 2015

Yesterday was Remembrance Day. Every year in my town, the whole community gathers at our Canadian War Memorial park to pay tribute to our soldiers on November 11'th - Remembrance Day. Today, I would like to share some photos with you, from yesterday. I hope you guys don't mind. I had no dogs with me, but I would still love for you all to see how my town pays tribute.

The day started out with a proud march from our Legion, all the way to the War Memorial park.

Once we had arrived at the War Memorial, we began with our National Anthem.

Then, at exactly 11:00am - we paused for the moment of silence. A moment to remember all who fought for our country. They continued by reading the famous poem by John McCrae - In Flanders Fields.

Then we watched, as the soldiers, and their families, carried the wreaths of remembrance up, and placed them at the War statue. After they had finished, we were able to go and place our poppies along the war statue as well.

Lest we forget...

And what were the dogs doing while all this was going on?

How about you?
What did you, or your town/city do to pay tribute on November 11'th?

  1. We had our town parade on Sunday - our town isn't big yet it's a large parade. Then we had the 2 minute silence yesterday aswell.

    1. We have a very historic town, and lots of soldiers came from this area back then, so my town goes all out, and it's so moving every single year too.

  4. There is a big deal every year at the cemetery where I took my photos, but other than that, nothing much goes on here. Lots of places have deals for veterans too.

  7. That is a beautiful way to honor the Veterans. We have a very small parade, the WW2 vets are all gone now or unable to attend and those of other wars don't get into it like the WW2 Vets did.

  8. I feel like an ass saying this, but I don't really know what our town does. I do know that most businesses are open (which ticks me off) and I do know when I was a kid this day was a big day, but now I tend to think the towns are doing their memorials on the weekends.

What a beautiful tradition your town has!

  9. Very nice, Jenna! I love the colors of the wreaths...very beautiful and dramatic with the purple bows and the red poppies.

    1. Yea, there is so much debate over whether or not to make it a work free day for Remembrance/Veterans day. What are your thoughts on the subject?
