Exercise Your Dog With Ease With This DIY Flirt Pole Project

Exercise Your Dog With Ease With This DIY Flirt Pole Project

Every pet owner knows this motto: "A tired dog is a well behaved dog."
The meaning behind that, is basically the fact that dogs need exercise. They need it to prevent destructive behavior, they need it to keep themselves healthy, they need it just as any human needs it.

The thing is, even though we all know how much exercise our dogs need, sometimes, our lives do their best to prevent us from getting up, and getting out! So what are we to do when our busy schedule tries to interfere with our daily exercise?

DIY Flirt Pole Project-
Here's what you'll need:
  • thin PVC pipe
  • bungee cord (with no ends)
  • Dog toy
That will do it for the materials... no really!
You can make a super easy DIY flirt pole for dogs with just 3 materials!!

Ok, here's what you do:
  • First, burn the ends of your bungee cord, so that it doesn't fray on you.
  • Now, slip the bungee through your PVC pipe, tying a big knot on the end, to prevent your cord from slipping through the pole.
  • Finally attach your dogs favorite toy to the bungee, just by tying it on.
Super easy right? Now you have yourself a flirt pole, and can exercise your dog with ease!

You can find the rope toy I used for the flirt pole here!

Now that you know how to make one, what exactly is it and how the heck are you suppose to use it?
If you were thinking that a flirt pole sounds pretty much like a giant cat toy... your 100% right! That is exactly what it is!

Since I really don't like being on video, I searched YouTube for a good flirt pole training video, and found one that I felt fit perfectly with today's post. Take a moment to check out this fantastic video from Atta Pup - Dog And Puppy Training:

Important Reminder -
Flirt pole training/exercises should not replace regular exercise you get with your dog.
While the Flirt Pole is a different and great form of exercise, it is best to keep your dogs exercise routine as regular as possible, and getting out for that walk, taking in all the scents of the world is super important to your furry friend!

  1. It is like a jumbo cat toy! I would never be interested, but Bailie might chase it. She likes to chase the famous red dot out in the yard. It is perfect for winter nights on the snow.
