Yep.. Spring is almost here. I don't know about where you live... but here in Ontario, our snow is melting, our weather has turned mild, and it is starting to get pretty muddy in our yard!
Today, I would love to share some tips with you to help prevent 'some' of the mud from coming into your house.

5 Tips To Help Keep Muddy Paw Prints Off Your Floors:

  1. The biggest tip that I can give you in regards to muddy paws, is to always trim the fur on their paw pads. (And yes, you can absolutely trim the paw pad fur from huskies as well.) By trimming the fur, there is a lot less area for mud to grab onto and in turn - be tracked into the house.
  2. Outdoor hose. A hose can be your best friend. They work great to give the muddy paws a quick rinse down before coming in the house.
  3. Always have a towel on hand.
  4. Paw wipes
  5. Teach your dog to wipe his paws when he comes in... yes... it's do-able
We love to embrace the warmer weather as winter is coming to a close, and even though the huskies and I will definitely miss the snow, I am also looking forward to the warm weather!

How about you?

  1. Well, we come in through the back door and there's a gravel driveway and a concrete stoop with a door mat, and then indoors I have a large mud mat and then a long runner in the hall, two steps that I carpeted, and another long mat at the top of the steps. My dog's dirty paws are pretty clean by that time, although sometimes my husband still manages to track in mud!

  2. We've got towels by two of our three doors if paws need to be wiped, we stop and let Mom wipe them and our bellies or whatever else may be dirty or wet.

  3. This is one reason why the mom is so glad we're inside cats. Though she says the dad-guy can make some messy "paw-prints" himself.

  4. Yup, it's mud season here too! I was just trimming the fur on Sheba's paws yesterday! We always have a towel hanging by the door as well. We're looking forward to our new house though...there's way less dirt and lots more grass in the yard!

  5. It's Mudville here, too. I just wipe down the floor a lot. Pug Liam and Boston terrier Sinead have such little feet, so their prints are easy to wipe up.

  6. We are in the midst of flooding of biblical proportions so this is very timely. Our home is fine but they have evacuated thousands of people. It is heartbreaking. We keep our Emma & Luv towel by the back door.

  8. I've never thought to trim the fur on paws. Interesting tip. My late Rott/Shepherd's paw fur was so sensitive! He hated when I touched it. We joked that he was ticklish. ~RascalandRocco

  11. Sometimes we have mud but our problem is sand. It's everywhere and so easy to track inside!

  12. Wow, that is a lot of mud in that photo! Wearing booties also help with mud, remove them before coming inside & rince them in the sink.
