We had a few different tables set up that were filled with baked goods - all of which were donated to us by our amazing community in Smiths Falls.
Feathered Haven Rescue brought a couple of their birds who are up for adoption. This guy was hilarious! He was talking, laughing, yelling at the dogs coming in and out. He was a hoot!
We created a few toy and treat filled Easter baskets for both cats and dogs which we sold on the day of the fundraising event as well.
And we did one whopping big Easter basket as part of a raffle draw for the fundraiser. We had so much fun creating these baskets, and choosing items I know pets love!
Aside from helping animals in need, there was one part of the day that stands out the most. Yep... we got to meet the Easter Bunny! Can you believe it?? Our wonderful town of Smiths Falls held a downtown Easter egg hunt for the kids, with participating businesses. See, each store had a basket full of chocolate Easter eggs and a few select stores had mystery prizes. The kids (with their parents) had maps, and locations where they had to go visit and collect the eggs, all the while having the Easter Bunny touring around town making sure all the children were having a blast. Huge shout out to our DBA (Nicola) for putting the entire Easter egg hunt together. Well done!
All in all, we had a wonderful day. We helped benefit animals in need, had a ton of fun, sold delicious baked goods, and got to meet wonderful new people, and their pets too!
Shout outs to everyone involved, including all of our volunteers, the rescues for coming and spending time with us at the store, Eric from Barker's Brunch Raw dog food for setting up a table and donating towards the cause, the Easter Bunny for stopping by our store, everyone who took the time to bake for our bake sale, everyone who donated, everyone who purchased raffle tickets to help the rescues, Jack FM for doing on the spot radio coverage, and just soooooooooooo many more thanks go to everyone involved!
I would like to give a shout out to my good friend, and professional photographer - Kat durant for organizing this entire event. She worked her fingers to the bone setting this all up, taking all of the baked donations, creating our events page, and taking amazing photos of humans and their pets in order to donate to the animal rescues. Kat, you are a hard worker, and an amazing friend. Thanks for all that you do!
Before you go, since today is Friday, that means it's time for our Flashback Friday blog hop as well. This week, I thought it fitting to share this graphic I made of Robbi - our little (not so little anymore) kitten which we rescued a few months ago. Since today's post is all about helping animals in need, I thought Robbi would fit right in. This photo of her was taken not long after her rescue. You can read all about her special story here.
That's it for today everyone, thanks for spending part of your Friday with us!
