'Tis The Season To Be Furry - #ItsAHuskyThing

Yep, it's that time of year again...

The time when fur balls blow across the floor as if they were tumbleweeds from an old western movie.

The time when husky fur becomes part of your wardrobe.

The time when wearing black is almost as forbidden as eating that darn apple from the garden of Eden...

Yep, it's husky blow out time.

Husky Blow Out

If you have followed my blog for a while, or are familiar with Siberian Huskies, you will know all about the husky "blow-out." For those of you unfamiliar with the term -

Siberian Huskies have a thick double coat. The undercoat is soft, warm and fluffy, while the top coat is more coarse - useful for keeping the rain and snow from soaking to their skin, protects them from getting a sun burn, and probably the coolest and most unique part about husky - their double coat works as a cooling system in the summer as well as keeping them warm in the winter. In the Siberian Husky language, the term "Blow out" refers to twice a year when a sibe sheds out their entire undercoat. This may sound funny, but the reason they do this is because new fur is growing due to the changing season (usually spring and fall) so they are basically making room for the fresh fur!

Husky Blow Out

As you can see from the photos in today's post, I have been spending loads of time brushing out my huskies, to try and get rid of all this blow out fur, and reduce the amount of fur that ends up like those tumbleweeds I mentioned above.

Husky Blow Out

And this photo shows you what a small area of our yard looks like after brushing out just ONE of my huskies. Times that with 2 more Sibe's and you can imagine...

Last blow-out season I created this fun "Straight Outta Compton" meme, in my own husky version, so I thought that would fit in nicely for this weeks Flashback Friday as well!

That does it for today, if you're a blogger, we hope you'll be able to link up with our 2 fun blog hops today. The Pet Parade and Flashback Friday.

  8. Thank you for this post. In order to have healthy and happy dogs, pet owners need to make sure that everything evolves naturally and in the best way possible starting from the beginning. A pregnant dog needs to be observed and checked regularly in order to make sure that everything is all right, and the puppies develop normally.
