  2. Hi. I tried to join the Sibe Vibe blog hop today, but having trouble at the photo cropping point. You'll see two stupid looking thumbnails with the caption "I'm Gumby Dammit!". I wanted to use the funniest photo of my Husky playing with a Gumby toy. I wasn't able to crop it when joining the blog hop, it didn't work. I'm not able to remove it myself and I can't add another one since my link is already in the blog hop (twice). Can you please remove the two thumbnails? So sorry for the inconvenience, not sure what went wrong but maybe because the photo is old and probably taken with a really crummy camera. Thanks! - Cathy Armato, Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them

    1. Hi there Cathy.
Oh I hate when linky lists mess up!!!
Unfortunately I am not the host of this one. The Sibe vibe is just my post, the hop I am linked up to is called Sepia Saturday. The hops I host are thoughtless Thursday and Pet Parade on Friday. The host of Sepia Saturday is Ruckus the Eskie. You can visit him and ask to remove the thumbnail at www.ruckustheeskie.com .
Sorry I am unable to help you, but I will send an email to ruckus for you though. :))

  3. Thanks so much Jenna. Unfortunately, I tried to join your blog hop today as well and none of the photos I uploaded works. Either something is weird w/ the cropping or I'm doing something wrong. Another of my photos didn't come out at all. I titled my thumbnail "You gotta love a Husky". Sorry to mess up your hop... again. Normally when I upload a photo I can see a large image that I can crop, but I see only a tiny box in the upper left and I'm unable to resize it or move it. Sorry for such inconvenience. - Cathy

    1. Hi there, i'm so sorry you are having issues with these hops, however this one is not mine either. The ones that I host are on Thursday and Friday. For this hop, you will have to contact Lisa from the site dogsnpawz.com

When you enter a hop, it gives you the option to let your computer auto crop or crop it yourself, select crop yourself. and then you will have your photo in the left corner, but it should not be a tiny little photo, just a smaller one, then you should be able to crop from there. If all else fails for whatever reason, you could try just using the blog hop badge for your thumbnail.

  6. Hello Jenna,

I came across your blog and I was hoping to get a little advice. My wife and I are huge dog lovers, and we really want to get a husky. My only concern is that we live downtown in Vancouver, B.C. Canada, in a small apartment. We both work full-time; however, we work in close proximity to our home, so we would be able to come home over the lunch hour. We're desperate to get a husky, but I certainly wouldn't want to get one if it meant the animal was unhappy. I'm quite active, running anywhere from 45-90 min a day, so the dog would obviously accompany me, when he can that is. We also walk all the time, and Vancouver is a "very" dog friendly place. We also try to hike as much as we can. So here's the million dollar question: while the dogs a puppy, it'll most likely be crated for 4 hrs in the morning, and 4 hours in the afternoon. When it gets a bit older, we'll likely let it roam the apartment for those hours, though our apartment is relatively small. We plan on moving to a bigger place, but likely not for another year or so. It's unlikely the new place would have a yard though. If you know anything about the Vancouver real estate market you'll totally understand. If you have the time, I'd really appreciate your thoughts on whether we'd be providing a suitable home. We have a lot of love to give, but I know it takes more than that to be a good dog owner.

    Thanks Jenna,

    Owen

    1. Hi Owen, and thanks for your question - I absolutely love to see people doing their research when it comes to adopting a husky as they are definitely not a breed for everyone. So, there are pro's and cons here as i'm sure you already know. However I think you could definitely do this. You will have some people tell you that a small apartment is no place for a husky, but it's just not true. A small living situation matters not, so long as the husky gets plenty of outdoor exercise. Having no yard is a minus - but the fact that you said you walk a lot and also go out running - having no yard - the walking and running would make up for that. SO - crating the puppy is definitely your only option when you guys are at work, because huskies can become super destructive when left alone. Crating for 4 hours - come home at lunch and either go for a run or a nice long walk, then crating for the afternoon would work out fine, as long as when you come home in the evening for the day, the pup is not crated anymore till the next day (or if you had to go out of course.) 8 hours of crating is far too long for a young pup, but if (as you said) you can come home at lunch and exercise the pup etc...then the broken up 8 hours would be fine. Also, be sure you do not leave any choking hazard toys in the crate. Toys such as a stuffed Kong or others like that can be left ion the crate, but you don't want to leave a squeaky toy or stuffie in the crate, as he could choke while your away. I think you can definitely have your husky! Tons of exercise is what they need, and it sounds like you would have that covered, so please stay in touch, and I would love to hear if you decide to adopt one, and I want to see some puppy pics!!!!! :)
